LA ESCONDIDA

Sotogrande, Cádiz

In La escondida, the garden is purely mediterranean with a focus on mass planting and mixed border areas. The brief was not to include any lawn and for a plot this size, it meant creating spaces, pathways, secret corners within the garden to live and enjoy. Centenary olives, cork trees and pencil pines are scattered strategically throughout the landscape framing the view and connecting the garden to the golf course beyond. It is a summer spring and summer garden with pink, mauve and blue flowering perennials tucked into masses of Stipa tenuissima and Pennisetum allopecuroides.
