HACIENDA In la sierra de aracena

Zufre, Huelva

The Hacienda is surrounded by a very rich natural environment within the Natural Park of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche.

Within this idyllic location our mission is to surround the buildings with vast ornamental gardens in order to give character and purpose to each part of the complex while serving as a green transition between the buildings and nature in its purest form.

For the entrance we are proposing a simple and classic layout with rows of Olea europaeas and Cupressus sempervirens on a sea of Avena sativa.

The house façade is dressed with espalier lemon trees and the main courtyard is completed with a large magnolia tree, several Vigna Caracalla vines and table-top clipped green forms of Pistacia lentiscus.

A small ‘White Garden’ to the west of the property, serving as a connection to the main courtyard from the parking area, is planted with specimen Olea europaea and a mix of evergreen and perennial white-flowering plants. The following species are present in the garden: Philadelphus coronarius, Salvia macrophylla alba, Gaura lindheimeri, Rosa Iceberg, Rosa banksiae alba, Rosa Pierre de Ronsard, Jasminum sambac Grand Duke of Tuscany, Jasminum azoricum, Jasminum officinale and Trachelospermum jasminoides.

To the south, the large terrace area will overlook a star shaped formal hedged garden of Pittosporum tobira, blue flowering Nepeta and beautiful Morus alba for shade, bringing a classy, finishing touch to the project.

To the east of the property near the pool area we planted a more colourful drought tolerant garden instead. Here a composition of Mirtus comunis, Pistacia lentiscus, Osmanthus x burkwoodii and Pittosporum tobira is interlaced with Verbena bonariensis, Stachys lanata, Stipa tenuissima and a variety of purple flowering Salvias.

The vast meadow viewed from the pool will eventually become an orchard that will also be seeded with local flowering plants and grasses.
